Applications are now open for the 2024 GDN’s Climate Photo Essay Contest. The annual GDC Photo Essay Contest invites you to share your unique perspective on one of our most pressing global issues: climate change. After the success of our 2023 contest on biodiversity, we’re back with a new theme, challenging photographers to capture the resilience, innovation, and impact of climate change on communities. This contest harnesses the power of photography to inspire and inform, spotlighting the realities of climate change and sparking conversations that can drive positive change.

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or an enthusiastic amateur, we invite you to use your lens to tell a story and contribute to a global dialogue on building a more sustainable future through our 2024 theme – Impact, Challenges and Solutions in My Community.

Theme: Impact, Challenges and Solutions in My Community.

Objective: To amplify the voices of those most affected by climate change.

Judging Criteria: Relevance to theme, narrative composition, technique, content, and originality.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Age Range: 18 to 35 years.

Region: Citizens of Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) in the Pacific and Southeast Asian regions. We highly encourage women to participate in the contest. Please take a look at the map below for the list of countries.

Photo Essay: 3 to 5 photographs that tell a cohesive story related to the theme.

Originality: Photos must be original, unpublished, and must not be winners in other competitions.

PHOTO GUIDELINES

Format: JPG, 300 dpi resolution, approximately 30×40 cm in size.

Size: Each photo should be no larger than 5MB.

Description: A short description (100-200 words) explaining the relevance of the photos to the theme.

Editing: Moderate editing allowed for brightness, contrast, and saturation; no over-editing.

Types: Colour, sepia, and black-and-white photos are eligible.
